How to get to Sipi Falls
Sipi Falls is a beautiful destination located in eastern Uganda, near the town of Mbale. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you plan your trip:
By Air
1. Fly to Entebbe International Airport (EBB): This is Uganda’s primary airport, located about 35 km from Kampala, the capital city.
2. Domestic flight to Mbale: From Entebbe, take a domestic flight to Mbale Airport (MBQ) or Soroti Airport (SRT), which are the closest airports to Sipi Falls.
By Road
1. From Kampala: Drive east on the Kampala-Mbale highway (approximately 220 km, 4-5 hours).
2. From Mbale: Continue east on the Mbale-Sipi highway (approximately 55 km, 1-2 hours).
3. Turnoff: Look for the Sipi Falls signpost and turn left onto the gravel road.
4. Final stretch: Drive approximately 10 km on the gravel road to reach Sipi Falls.
Public Transportation
1. Bus from Kampala: Take a bus from Kampala’s Old Taxi Park to Mbale (approximately 4-5 hours).
2. Taxi or boda-boda: From Mbale, hire a taxi or boda-boda (motorcycle taxi) to Sipi Falls (approximately 1-2 hours).
